Entertainment Art major at College for Creative Studies. This has become an inspiration/play blog. Whatever I feel at the moment.
Thought that I needed to spread out a bit more from Deviantart and this seemed to be a viable way to do so. But I can still be found at http://desertfire.deviantart.com/

Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I’ve been in a deep vampire mood. Recently watched Queen of the Damned and Interview with the vampire for the first time through.
So, I figured out my top three vampire movies in order:
1. The Lost boys
2. Queen of the Damned
3. Interview with the Vampire
Honorable Mention: Fright Night 80’s version
I know many would be like What!! IWTV is 3rd, how come not first? Come on!
Look, the equation is this:
Lost Boys= Vampires+ 80’s music+80’s clothes (trench coat shout out)+ motorcycles….how the devil is anything suppose to beat that? At least for me! =D
Even though QOTD and IWTV could reasonably be tied because I like them both for very different reasons. But I know for a fact The Lost Boys is my favorite vampire movie. lol
And shout-out to Fright Night which was a good watch. I loved Chris Saradon as the vampire and Ed I think was his name.
So because I’ve been hopped up on vampire juice, lol, I came up with my own vampire story that popped into my head. It’s a short story that could get more short-stories to become a series. I haven’t finished it (hopefully I will) but when I do, I’ll post it on my FictionPress Account and link it to my Art/Writing Blog probably with a Cast list like I’ve started doing for my stories.
Finally after all these years, I figured out how to combine my two loves: Ancient Egypt and vampires. (I have more loves now, but when I was younger I always wanted to combine them but never figured out how)
Edit2: Okay, I think I got talked into it. I believe I’ll order Interview with the Vampire on DVD for my collection.
Edit: Never watched Interview with the Vampire straight through either. So I decided to try that as well. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise aren’t my favorite people so I’m not jumping on a bandwagon or any wagon for either of them.. Surprisingly, I thought it was very enjoyable. Louise was my favorite character in the movie.
And I don’t want to get into this debate on whose the better Lestat, Tom or Stuart. I like both movies for different reasons. Tom was more sarcastic while Stuart was more feline sexy appeal. I enjoy both. Took me awhile with the Tom Cruise thing, cause there is exactly 2-3 movies I can stand to watch him in without twitching.
I currently have Queen of the Damned DVD on order. I may get Interview someday but I’m in no hurry. Then again I may never get it. I’ll see.
Once again, never read the books, not interested, but I enjoy the movies. :)
——————————————
You know I’ve never sat down and watched the movie Queen of the Damned in full.
I was quite young when it came out and I probably, like with so many of the movies I like now, I had to grow to like them.
I saw clips but never from beginning to end. So I decided to remedy that tonight.
I LOVED the movie. Favorite characters: Lestat, Akasha,Jesse and Marius.
By the way, all the die hard Annie Rice fans that want to list the 101 reasons the movie was bad, save it….I enjoyed it. Never read the books and not interested. I just thought this movie was sexy from beginning to end.
The Lost Boys: The Coolest Hive (by DesertRoses)
My latest Music Video for fun. Yes, I’m still obsessed with the Lost Boys. I can’t help it, a wonderful story, a hot cast, with hot music (I’m still stuck on the soundtrack) and did I mention a wonderful story?
Hellllo!
People!
This is what is in part what is missing from today’s cinema, but that’s an entirely different conversation.
If you like First Cool Hive by Moby check it out. The song I used, I heard first from the horror movie Scream.
Somehow I got on a vampire kick, which is slightly weird cause I’m not an avid fan of vampires like I used to be.
Probably cause the Twilight fandom killed it.
Yes, I said it.
Deal with it.
Anyway, it started with me watching Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman. I had heard of the movie but I never saw it. I finally got around to seeing it and I LOVED it. It was great to see a classic welldone vampire movie. None of this “sparkling in the daylight whoshotjohn”, that we aren’t even gonna get me started on!!
Can I push pause a moment and say what an awesome credit ending Van Helsing had? As animator/motiongrapher/artist in training I really loved it!! It’s been awhile since I enjoyed looking at a movie credit (or opening for that matter).
That graduated to me watching Fright Night. I remember seeing the 1985 version with Chris Sarandon on TV a couple of years ago so I looked it up again and had a blast re-watching it!
Then I decided I’d try to watch the remake.
I’m gonna bottom line my thoughts for the 2011 version.
It doesn’t have the same “flavor” as the old one.
First off…..Evil Ed was just….wrong. The older version had character; he was dorky in a clueless way, that actually made him cute. The new version was just….annoying for lack of a better word.
I still can’t decided if I find the actor for Jerry cute or not. I’m leaning towards not really. Plus Chris version had a seduction about him…..remake Jerry was just plain creepy most of the time. I didn’t get any kind of “shoot I’ll turn vampire for you”, as I did watching the 1985 version. Bottom line: wasn’t particular about his version of Jerry.
Remake Charley was just ok. The girlfriend….Amy was it?…was meh.
And then Peter Vincent. I think the character in this version overall was cool, but I just felt it didn’t really work with Fright Night.
Plus, they didn’t have the zombie helper dude from the first version. Jerry was just flying solo! I kept looking for a version of his character but he was nowhere to be found! Almost made me forget about him until just now!
So, I watched about 45 minutes of it straight until I just started skipping around.
So I don’t put the Fright Night remake on the blasphemous list as I do some remakes, that I believe shall remain nameless, but I’m not really into either.
I think it makes a good movie if you don’t look at the fact that it is a remake. But since it is a remake…it’s hard for me to like it.
It’s been great revisiting my love for vampires….which isn’t non-existent ….just not a focus point anymore.
So, what is everyone’s favorite vampire movie or vampire movies you love?
